The "Big Boxer" Engine
The heart of the new R18 Transcontinental and R18 B involves a completely new development for the R18 line: the 2-cylinder, flat twin boxer engine, the "Big Boxer." The "Big Boxer" utilizes the nostalgic influence of the traditional air-cooled boxer engines that have been inspiring riding experiences since 1923. The "Big Boxer" boasts an engine capacity of 1,802 cc., generates an output of 67 kW (91 hp) at 5,750 rpm and, in the 2,000 to 4,000 rpm range, it delivers more than 150NM of torque. -
Specially Designed Cockpit
The cockpit has been specially designed for the new R18 Transcontinental and R18 B, with four analogue round instruments and a 10,25" TFT colour display with map navigation! Extensive connectivity and maximum functionality are the standard. -
Three Riding Modes + ASC and MSR as Standard
The R18 Transcontinental and R18 B both feature three riding modes- "Rain", "Rock", and "Roll,"- as standard, which is unusual for the segment. Also included as standard are ASC (automatic stability control), which ensures a high level of riding safety, and MSR (motor slip regulation), which maximizes engine torque control. PLUS, there's a Hill Start Control function that makes it easy for you to get going, no matter the incline of your starting point.

How the Models Differ

Comfort & Riding Position
The R 18 Transcontinental is equipped with an especially comfortable, low seat and seat heating as standard to ensure long-distance riding comfort- even when riding two-up. The R 18 B has a somewhat slimmer two-person seat bench.

Stylistic Variance
The R18 B has been designed to look powerful, low, and long with the lower windscreen and fully blacked-out drive train. The R18 Transcontinental has a higher windshield, and wind deflectors in body colour finish. The R18 stands out as a stylish "Bagger", while the R18 Transcontinental as a luxurious tourer that is sure to turn some heads.

Other Differences
The R18 Transcontinental, unlike the R18 B, comes with an engine guard, seat heating as standard, and a continuously adjustable rocker switch. In addition to the side cases that are standard on the R18 B, the R18 Transcontinental also includes a top case.
